Artists define being ‘live’ through everyday objects
- Share via
A new art exhibit at UCI opening today will examine what it means to be “live” in the modern world.
The exhibit features the works of seven artists who have taken items from our everyday world that could be described as ways of capturing the present or “live” moments, such as photographs, data, video, and items from the Internet, and using them to create works of art.
The artists use sources like C-Span, Iraq war casualty rates, networking sites and other resources that will not only reflect the live nature of those elements, but in turn make the works of art themselves live.
The opening reception is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Beall Center for Art and Technology at UCI, but the exhibit will be on display until June 7.
Admission is free, but visitors have to pay for parking at $2 an hour.
