Edison MVP is league’s MVP, too

Edison players landed five key honors for the 2007 All-Sunset League football team.

The team was selected by the six league coaches and is headed by Edison senior quarterback Nick Crissman, who was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.

“Nick had a great two years at quarterback,” Edison Coach Dave White said. “He won two league titles, threw for more than 5,000 yards and had 39 TD passes. He completed 62% of his passes for his career and set the single-season record for throwing yards as a junior.

“He’s among the top three in just about every offensive category at the school,” he added.

Crissman will play at UCLA next year.

Other Chargers landing top awards were Areseo Lakey (Offensive Back of the Year), Eric Smith (Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year), Earnie Sagiao (Co-Defensive Player of the Year) and Blayne Anderson (Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year).

Overall, Edison placed 18 players on the first and second teams, and two others made Honorable Mention.

Marina had seven players make the two teams and two more were Honorable Mention.
