Parents get chance to speak mind about conversions

Parents in the Newport Harbor High School enrollment zone get their first crack Wednesday at asking Newport-Mesa district officials questions about plans to make all elementary schools kindergarten through sixth grade and have seventh- and eighth-graders go to middle schools.
Deputy Supt. Paul Reed and Assistant Supt. Susan Astarita will meet with parents at 9 a.m. in Mariners Elementary School’s faculty lounge and present different scenarios for the district’s reconfiguration.
District officials will meet with parents in six meetings through February. A recommendation for approving a district reconfiguration is expected to reach the board at its Feb. 12 meeting.
