Newport’s Rosansky to support New York’s Rudy

Newport Beach Mayor Steve Rosansky will officially endorse former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for president in 2008, campaign organizers announced Friday.

Rosansky joins a list of 11 other mayors and former mayors from communities across the state who have officially announced their support for Giuliani in the 2008 election.

Giuliani is favored to win Republican primaries in key states Feb. 5 during Mega Tuesday, including California.

Although down by four points in a recent poll of likely Republican voters in California conducted by Survey USA, Giuliani still leads by 18 points over his closest rival, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

Thirty-four percent of potential Republican voters polled picked Giuliani. The poll, released Nov. 5, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4%.
