Contemporary issues to be discussed by playwright

Renowned playwright Tony Kushner is scheduled to speak at the Newport Beach Public Library Nov. 4.

The New York playwright tackles a number of contemporary issues normally avoided by others, including the AIDS epidemic and the conservative counter-revolution, Afghanistan, German fascism and Reaganism.

At the library appearance Kushner will discuss the theater, politics and the relationship between the two with John Glore, South Coast Repertory’s associate artistic director since 2005.
