The following is from the Oct. 23 meeting of the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education.
New classrooms at El Morro Elementary
The board discussed spending $800,000 to build two permanent classrooms at El Morro Elementary School to address the unexpected growth in its enrollment.
The funds would come from fees paid by real estate developers within the district’s boundaries.
“I can’t think of a better use for developer fees than classrooms,” board President Betsy Jenkins said.
Fall policy priorities include alcohol ban
Superintendent Robert Fraisse described the Board Policy Subcommittee’s four priorities for the fall quarter.
They include policies prohibiting the use of alcohol by adults at school-sponsored events; detailing independent study physical education practices; the use of defibrillators on campus; and a carry-over on the use of surveillance cameras on campus.
