I would like to thank my son, Danny Miller, as well as Daily Pilot Reporter Soraya Nadia McDonald for the kind words and thoughts expressed about me (“High School Football Player of the Week,” Oct. 11).
However, it’s Danny, his teammates — and their unbelievably dedicated coaches, Brinkley, Ciarelli, Brown, Govaars, Biehl, Lewis, Burns, Calloway, Pulido and Ciarelli, who are on the football field each week — practicing and playing with all of their skill, heart and soul.
Bruce has always said to all four of his sons: “You have to play with fire in your belly.”
Danny does. He sets a high standard for himself that carries over to his teammates and the incredible number of championship winning teams he’s played on — in numerous sports.
He never gives up and plays with 110% until the bitter end.
It’s wonderful the Daily Pilot has recognized his football accomplishments, which truly have nothing to do with me.
Now, if only the Newport-Mesa Unified School District would recognize the need to update, make safe (or at least groom to acceptable standards) Davidson Field!
