Red Wings record 2 playoff wins

The Red Wings earned a pair of playoff victories to keep their Wales Division postseason title hopes alive.

They outscored the Thrashers, 3-1, in the final period to pull out a 6-5 win at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Earlier at the rink, they held off a late charge by the Senators to post a 6-4 triumph.

Red Wings 6, Thrashers 5

Brandon White scored all three of the Thrashers’ goals in the third period as they rallied past the Thrashers.

White finished with a match-high five goals. Alex McCabe scored the other Red Wings goal.

Jessica Quinones recorded 31 saves.

Phillip Berman scored two goals to lead the Thrashers offensively. Slater Moore and Garrett Blackwell also scored, and Jake Rennison and Brooks Hurst each had an assist.

Red Wings 6, Senators 4

The Red Wings took a 5-0 lead into the third period when the Senators staged a rally that fell short.

Alex McCabe and Michael Borrego scored goals before Brandon White posted four consecutive goals to complete the scoring for the Red Wings.

Jessica Quinones had 26 saves.

Justin Williams scored twice and Ethan Higbee and Ryan Dixon each scored once for the Senators.

Eric Grant had 22 saves.

In other Wales Division playoff action:

Ice Dogs 6, Sabers 2

The Ice Dogs outscored the Sabers, 6-1 over the final two periods, to remain alive.

Alex Kowalski and William Engelke each scored twice and Kandice Ehret had a goal for the Ice Dogs.

Ben Sumner had two assists, Matthew Moore one and Ian Marzolf registered 18 saves.

Kyle Christi and Matt Schnautz scored for the Sabers, and Todd Smith recorded 35 saves.

In Campbell Division playoff action:

Puckhogs 7, Sharks 5

Garrett Felix scored three goals and Dylan Reightley posted two to lead the Puckhogs past the Sharks.

Marlin Liberatore and Thomas Oates also scored goals for the Puckhogs. Reightley, Liberatore, Sean Leddy and Tyler Donelson had assists, and Weston Bechtold had 13 saves.

Puckhogs 8, Mad Dogs 6

Goals by Dylan Reightley and Chris Hernandez in overtime off-set a goal by the Mad Dogs’ Presley Merrick as the Puckhogs survived a thriller.

Hernandez led the Puckhogs in scoring with three goals and Reightley and Garrett Felix each finished with two goals. Sean Leddy also scored, and Hernandez and Natalie Olaes each had an assist.

Weston Bechtold recorded five saves.

Haley Miller scored three goals to lead the Mad Dogs on offense. Brandon Entwistle scored twice, Presley Merrick scored once, and Miller and John Henry Huffman each had an assist.

Jake Gealy finished with three saves.

In Norris Division playoff action:

Flyers 6, Misfits 2

The Flyers moved on in the postseason by outscoring the Misfits 4-0 down the stretch to break a 2-2 first-period tie.

Garrett Zolg had four goals and an assist, Matthew Legrand scored a goal and three assists, Jake Gealy scored once, and Levi Pompoco had an assist for the Flyers.

Tyler Gealy had 17 saves.

Daniel Chladek scored both Misfits goals, Jeremy Williams had an assist and Ismael Ralsten finished with 20 saves.

Psychos 6, Extreme 3

Tied at 3-3 through two periods, the Psychos scored the final three goals of the match to advance.

The Psychos’ Alexander Taros led the scoring with three goals. Jordan Bonner also scored, and Aaron Maccabi had 21 saves.

Amanda Vongries, Shane Geller and Aaron Cree scored for the Extreme. Vongries and Julia Wong each had an assist, and Dylan Rodriguez recorded 31 saves.

In Howe Division action:

Diablos 4, Storm 2

Austin Koss scored the final four goals of the match for the Diablos, who overcame a 2-0 first-period deficit to defeat the Storm.

Goals by Chris Irwin and Matthew Oyakawa had given the Storm a 2-0 lead.

Savannah Patton had 19 saves for the Storm.

Goonies 6, Hat Tricks 5

Karson Derego scored his only goal of the match — off a feed from Paul Wirth — in an overtime shootout to get the Goonies past the Hat Tricks.

Wirth led all scorers with three goals and Jonathan Carlson and Stephen Goodman also scored for the Goonies.

Wirth finished with two assists and Thomas Wirth had one.

Eric Grant had 35 saves.

Auston Leming had two goals and an assist, Jeremy Corwin scored twice, and Keane Wong scored once with an assist for the Hat Tricks.
