Slammers put three teams in western regional finals

LAS VEGAS — The Newport-Beach based Slammers under-18 girls’ team won a thriller, while two other girls’ teams captured meaningful victories to advance to today’s finals at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far Western Regionals.
The Slammers under-18 squad defeated Real Colorado National in overtime, 1-0. The Slammers include Taylor Fallon, a Corona del Mar High product, and Jackie Venke, who is originally from Newport Beach, and attended Mater Dei. They will face the Mustang Blast, of Northern California, today.
The Slammers under-17 team scored a 1-0 victory over Real Colorado National, the defending national champion. Also, the Slammers under-14 team will play in today’s final after beating Pride Predators, 3-0.
The Slammers sent six teams to the Far Western Regionals.
The finals begin today at 7 a.m. at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex in Las Vegas.
