MR. IRRELEVANT XXXII

OVERVIEW

Robinson is a scrappy pass defender who withstood the challenge of matching up vs. the opponents’ top receivers on a weekly basis. He would generally give up considerable size to several of those receivers, but allowed just one touchdown catch over his final two seasons.

Robinson earned his undergraduate degree in Management last May, and as the only returning starter in the Tide secondary in 2006, he mentored the younger defenders. For that role, he earned Alabama’s “Mal Moore Leadership” Award.

As a quarterback at Butler High School, Robinson completed 72 of 114 passes for 1,338 yards and seven touchdowns his senior season. He also rushed for 466 yards on 85 carries and had six rushing scores. On defense, he had 33 tackles and two interceptions while playing cornerback.

As a junior, Robinson passed for 1,112 yards and 12 touchdowns and added 502 yards and five rushing scores.

He was an all-city and all-district pick as a sophomore, junior and senior. He also was an honorable mention all-state choice as a senior.

After redshirting in 2002 at Alabama, Robinson forced his way into the cornerback rotation, as he totaled 23 tackles (19 solos) with four pass deflections and a forced fumble. He took over left cornerback duties in 2004 and was the team’s youngest starter, but he produced 45 tackles (27 solos) with four more pass break-ups.

Robinson started 10 contests at left cornerback in 2005. He knocked down seven passes and intercepted two others. He also was in on 32 tackles (24 solos), including a stop for a loss.

He was bothered early in the season by a dislocated left pinky and was also diagnosed with a stress fracture of the L4/L5 vertebra in his back, but did not miss any games.

As the only veteran in the secondary in 2006, Ramzee delivered 46 tackles (30 solos) with 1.5 stops for losses and a forced fumble. He had two interceptions, returning one for a score, and broke up seven other throws.

Robinson started 36 of 50 games he played in for Alabama. He finished his career with 148 tackles (100 solos), 3.5 stops for losses of 11 yards and two forced fumbles.

He batted away 22 passes and intercepted four others for 96 yards in returns and a touchdown.
