Newport Beach Police arrested an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday on suspicion of commercial burglary, Newport Beach Police sergeant Evan Sailor said Friday.
The deputy is Gerald Edward Williams, a 48-year old resident of Newport Beach. Williams was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday after he entered a local pharmacy with intent to forge a prescription, authorities said.
“The commercial burglary stems from entering a pharmacy with intent to forge a prescription, which makes it a commercial burglary,” Sailor said.
Police said Williams’ bail was $20,000 and that he bailed out shortly after being arrested.
Authorities could not provide any additional information, as the investigation is ongoing.
