Budget includes planning for second skate park

The Costa Mesa City Council approved a $130.1-million budget Tuesday and also tacked on a nearly $395,000 project to modernize the technology in the council chambers.

The 2007-08 budget includes planning for a second skate park, new police personnel to combat gangs, and $4.8 million in street and sidewalk repairs. Council members didn’t agree to a long list of extras, but they voted to start the first phase of chambers upgrades.

Council members also voted to send residents a regular newsletter on city issues, but it will cost little or nothing because it will be included in the quarterly recreation department mailer.
