The No. 34 UC Irvine women’s tennis team (21-4) was selected to the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship field of 64 for the first time in school history.
The Anteaters will face No. 30 Texas (15-9) May 12 at 9:00 a.m. at Marks Stadium on the campus of USC in Los Angeles.
The winner of that match will face the winner of USC-Boston University on Sunday, May 13, at 1:00 p.m.
“We’re very excited to be selected for the NCAA’s,” Anteaters Coach Mike Edles said after the announcement. “This is what we play for all year.”
The Anteaters are the first team from the Big West Conference to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship in the 23 years the conference has sponsored the sport.
