WOMEN’S TENNIS

Southern California RegionalCOSTA MESA — Jaleh Mazaheri, Heather Morton, Evelyn Wallace, KD Doran and Mahtab Davatolhagh won in singles to lead Orange Coast College past Riverside, 5-1, in a semifinal.

The Pirates advance to the regional final Tuesday at OCC. Doubles were not played Tuesday, because the Pirates clinched the win.

BASEBALL

Orange Coast 8, Fullerton 3COSTA MESA — Wes Kartch, Cory Olson, Mike Ferraro and Chris Lum produced three hits each to help lead the Pirates to the Orange Empire Conference win Tuesday.

Kartch, who is eight for 11 in his past two games, went three for five with two runs scored. Olson added three runs and three RBIs, while Lum added two RBIs and Ferraro one.

OCC pitcher Matt Hauser was solid in relief, throwing five innings of one-hit ball to pick up the win. Hauser (4-3) struck out two and walked two. With the win, the Pirates (24-17, 14-8 in conference) remained in second place in conference. Fullerton dropped to 21-19, 8-14.

OCC plays host to Irvine Valley Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Southern California RegionalVENTURA — Jon Kroopf was the lone singles winner for Orange Coast College, which lost to Ventura, 5-1, in a semifinal Tuesday.

The Pirates finished 16-5. Doubles were not played on Tuesday because Ventura clinched the win in singles.
