COSTA MESA — Orange Coast College sophomore Elda Hernandez won the women’s three-mile race in 19 minutes, 17.5 seconds to pace the Pirates to the team title Saturday at Fairview Park.
OCC’s Erendira Uriostegui (19:46.3) and Kelly Oelschlager (20:33.7) were second and third, respectively, while Kristin Glen (20:53) was fifth and Clarie Fleming (20:24.6) was ninth for the Pirates.
In the men’s four-mile race, Martin Bernard was seventh (21:30.4) to lead the Pirates’ to a third-place team finish.
Estancia High product Ernesto Castaneda (21:30.7) was eighth and former Newport Harbor High standout Nick St. Andre (21:45.1) was 11th for OCC.

RIVERSIDE — Senior forward Brad Evans scored the first two goals in the Anteaters’ Big West Conference opener Saturday.
Evans scored the first goal in the 10th minute on a penalty kick, then struck again four minutes later on Kevin Santora’s assist.
The Anteaters (6-1) put the game out of reach in the final 12 minutes, when Anthony Hamilton scored off Brandon Tario’s pass.
Rudy Mondragon also scored in the 89th minute on a counterattack.
Kenny Schoeni made five saves to preserve the shutout.
The Anteaters visit Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday.
