Costa Mesa Police are looking for a man who shot and critically injured another driver over the weekend in what investigators consider a road-rage attack on the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway.
The gunman shot Costa Mesa resident Duane Kressin in the chest after a dispute on the freeway.
At about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Kressin was being driven by a friend in his own vehicle north on the 55 Freeway when they were cut off by the gunman in a pickup truck.
The gunman stopped his truck in front of Kressin’s vehicle on the off-ramp near Del Mar, authorities said. When Kressin got out of his vehicle to confront the gunman he was shot in the chest.
The shooter drove off in his vehicle, a maroon Ford F-150 with a camper shell and small American and Israeli flags on the windows, police said. It has an Oregon license plate with the letters A, M, G, and E, police said.
Kressin was taken to Hoag Hospital Memorial and then moved to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in critical condition.
The gunman is a dark skinned white man, with a gray balding hair line, between 40 and 50 years of age, and weighing 250 to 300 pounds. He is 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-1 inches tall.
Witnesses with more information are urged to call Costa Mesa Police at (714) 754-5255 or call detectives at (714) 754-5197.
