Preschoolers prepare for Rosh Hashonah
Youngsters at the Chabad Jewish Center Preschool in South Laguna are getting ready to greet the Jewish New Year.
A High Holiday storytime will be led by Perel Goorevitch, director of the Chabad Preschool, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Barnes and Noble in Aliso Viejo. The event will feature holiday stories, guitar sing-along, arts and crafts, and Shofar blowing.

Free concert next Sunday
The Gary Bonner Singers will give a free community concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Laguna Presbyterian Church. Everyone is invited.
The Gary Bonner Singers are comprised of 60 singers from all over Southern California. The singers volunteer their time. Two Laguna locals, Shari Beckett and Sharon Archer, are part of this group.
The Bonner Singers have traveled all over California and Europe, and plan a recording and concert tour to Prague and Eastern Europe next June.
Bonner is the past dean of music at Azusa Pacific University and is currently the dean of music at California Baptist University in Riverside.

Nondenominational Bible study begins
Newcomers and those familiar with the Bible are invited to join Shari Beckett, Biblical scholar and writer, who will begin teaching a new series examining the 23rd Psalm: “The Lord is My Shepherd.” The series is titled “A Portrait of the Shepherd “¦ the 23rd Psalm.” Participants will meet for one hour on Thursday mornings beginning Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. in the parlor of Laguna Presbyterian Church.
Sessions include both teaching and small-group sessions, and will feature inspirational paintings by local artist Sandra Weir. The church is located at 415 Forest Ave. For more information, call (949) 494-8939.
