Brown-out helps the Lions

COSTA MESA ? Clay Brown tossed a shutout in the opener and Daniel Brown picked up the win in the second game as Vanguard University swept The Master’s College in a Golden State Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Saturday. The Lions won the games, 1-0 and 6-3.
In the first game, Clay Brown scattered seven hits and struck out six, walking none. Erik Komatsu drove in the game’s only run, singling in Isaac Salazar from second base in the seventh inning. Matt Voorhies and Derek Craddock each had two hits in the game.
Daniel Brown gave up three runs in six innings to get the victory in the second game, with Andrew Riddle pitching a scoreless seventh.
Voorhies hit a two-run homer in the first inning and had two hits in the game for Vanguard (17-17, 10-14 in conference). Salazar also had two hits, scoring three runs in the game.
The Master’s dropped to 10-26, 3-20.
