Here are some items the planning commission will consider tonight.

REHAB ACTIVITIES

Carl and Barbara Mosen want to renew a permit to offer counseling and other activities that serve residents of Sober Living By the Sea, a collection of 20 homes around the city for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The counseling services, a computer lab and some offices have been at 2811 Villa Way since 1998.

The commission will consider renewing the recovery center’s permit and continuing to waive 55 parking spaces that would be required for the facility.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Staff members recommend renewing the permit.

MONARCH BUILDING

John McMonigle nearly completed the Monarch building, a six-unit commercial and residential building at 424 32nd St., and he now wants to convert one second-floor residence to offices and sell it to Newport Beach-based Riviera Magazine.

Because the building won’t have enough parking with the added offices, McMonigle wants to form an agreement for off-site parking at a 31st Street, city parking lot also used by the Cannery Restaurant.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Approval is recommended.
