The Red Hot Chili Peppers posted a late goal and held on to defeat
the Soccer Sisters, 2-1, in an AYSO Region 55 girls’ Under-10
Division match.
A goal by Erica Shields spelled the difference in a match
highlighted by outstanding defensive play by both teams.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers struck first when Sydney Marks lofted a
kick into the corner of the Soccer Sisters’ net late in the first
quarter.
Just before the half, Devon Graber scored off an assist from
Simone Corkett to bring the Soccer Sisters into a 1-1 tie at the
break.
Both teams aggressively attacked the net in the second half, with
the Red Hot Chili Peppers getting five shots on goal, and the Soccer
Sisters with three shot attempts.
Jessyca Lackey protected the net for the Soccer Sisters, and
Lauren Anderson manned the goal for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Briana Kutinsky, Nathalie Muniz and Dana Conlisk led the defensive
charge for the Soccer Sisters.

Looney Limes 2, Knockouts 0
Stephanie Emming scored two goals in the second half as the Looney
Limes overcame the Knockouts.
Emming, Mariah Romo and Briana Montgomery led the offense for the
Looney Limes.
The Knockouts came close to scoring in the first half, but
midfielder Nicky Gonzalez’s midfield kick hit the post.
Other Knockout offensive attacks were launched by Katelyn Serrano
and Lindsay Conlisk, but the defensive play of the Looney Limes’
Paulina Vo and keeper Andrea Pettet held firm.
Allison McCaughtry led the defense for the Knockouts.
