Team Neighbor, a girls’ National Junior Basketball eighth-grade
travel team, won its fifth consecutive Fall League game by defeating
the Irvine Mystics, 44-41, in Irvine.
The victory gives the Huntington Beach-based team a 5-0 league
record and, coupled with a loss by Laguna Hills (4-1), moves Team
Neighbor into sole possession of first place entering the final
weekend of the regular season.
The two teams meet this weekend, and Team Neighbor wraps up its
league schedule Sunday against Fullerton.
All six Team Neighbor players scored, with Brittany Frers netting
14 points.
Renee Lindquist scored nine points, Meghan White had seven,
Analese Trejo had six and Nikki Fukuzawa and Janet Kim each had four
points.
Team Neighbor is still seeking girls in Huntington Beach who are
currently in the sixth- or seventh-grade to join the program.
