CORNER OFFICE BAR PROBLEMS
Live entertainment could be banned at the Corner Office Sports Bar
and Grill on Anton Boulevard, and it could close earlier, if the
commission decides it’s causing a public nuisance. The bar was given
a permit in January 2004 to allow dancing, karaoke and other live
entertainment, but since then Costa Mesa police have reported 45
service calls in about 13 months, mainly for complaints of crime.
Problems have not lessened, even after police tried to work with
the Corner Office’s operators and the city warned them their permit
could be revoked.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff members propose forbidding live entertainment and private
parties and changing the bar’s closing time from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m.
REZONING ON
MELODY LANE
Jon K. Jenkins, the property owner at 124 Melody Lane, wants to
rezone his parcel to allow future condominiums for sale. The current
zoning would allow up to two residential units that must have the
same owner, and the requested zoning would allow four units that
could be owned separately.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staff members recommend the rezoning, because it would meet a city
goal of providing more home ownership opportunities.
