Oilers win Sunset tennis opener

Getting a clean sweep in singles matches, the Huntington Beach High
girls’ tennis team defeated Fountain Valley, 16-2, in the Sunset
League opener for both schools.
Junior Stacy Kaufman and sophomores Jennifer Heumann and Monica
Stupaczuk swept their Baron opponents in singles action.
In doubles play, the Oilers’ top team of junior Christina Le and
sophomore Diana Le also swept.
The win improved Huntington’s overall record to 5-2.
In girls’ volleyball, Ocean View won its second match in Golden
West League play by sweeping host Saddleback, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20.
In boys’ water polo, Huntington Beach was an 8-6 winner over host
Dana Hills Monday.
Andrew Kreitz and Josh De La Torre each scored three goals to tie
for game-high scoring honors, and Nigel Etem and Mackenzie Hansler
each scored once.
Dylan Agajanian had 11 saves for Huntington.
In cross country, the Los Alamitos’ boys’ team and the Fountain
Valley girls’ squad took the top spots in their respective Sunset
League Preview Meet team standings at Central Park West.
In the boys’ standings, Edison finished second, Marina was third
and Huntington finished sixth.
In the girls’ standings, Edison was second, Marina fourth and
Huntington sixth.
