POLICE CHOPPER
The Huntington Beach Police Department is asking the council to
approve the purchase of another helicopter. The department has three
helicopters and is looking at getting the same model helicopter it
now uses -- an MD20N by MD Helicopters of Arizona.
Company officials would not comment, but MD’s website indicates
the aircraft functions as a lightweight, versatile helicopter.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It’s unclear if the council will approve the plan, although the
purchase request is on the consent agenda, which almost always gets a
green light.
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS
The council will consider approving the annual reports for both
business improvement districts run by the downtown merchants and the
city’s automotive dealers.
The business improvement districts are mandatory membership groups
that collect dues from their members and spend the money to market
the entire group and pay for infrastructural improvements.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The council will likely approve the groups’ annual reports and
approve this year’s membership fees, although it’s unclear how much
that will cost.
