* Oct. 2, 1978: Bluebird Canyon, 22 homes destroyed and some 40
others damaged in a 3.5-acre landslide that was then considered the
most destructive landslide in recent Orange County history, with
damages estimated at $15 million.
* Feb. 17, 1980: two homes lost in Arch Beach Heights area after a
slide.
* January 18, 1993: three homes destroyed after a hillside in
Mystic Hills collapsed following 13 days of rainstorms.
* Feb. 24, 1998: landslide in Laguna Canyon at Castle Rock claims
the life of Glenn Flook, an artist and resident who was helping to
evacuate his neighbors. Nine others are injured.
* March 8, 1998: large home crashes down a canyon along Cerritos
Drive.
* Feb. 19, 2005: Bluebird Canyon, one home on Morningside Drive is
damaged in a landslide after weeks of heavy rain.
