Laguna Art Museum is exhibiting “The OsCene: Contemporary Art and

Culture in OC,” “Jody Zellen: Other Places,” “The Many Faces of Roger

Armstrong” and “Surf Culture Redux” through Feb. 27.

“The OsCene: Contemporary Art and Culture in Orange County,”

exhibit involves diverse media including painting, drawing,

sculpture, photography, multi-media, video/film. Sound/music,

architecture and tattoo art. Lectures, panels, film screenings and

music performances are scheduled throughout the exhibit.

As part of “The OsCene,” the “Talk of the Town” series will

feature “Steve Vandemon: Cars as Art” at 1 p.m., Sunday. Vandemon

will give a demonstration workshop of his airbrushing skills he uses

custom painting cars and in his artwork. A 12-week American Art

Seminar will be taught by California Art Scholar Deborah Solon at 10

to 11:30 a.m., Wednesdays to May 4. Solon will cover American art

from the late 19th and early 20th century, including California

painters. Cost is $240 for members and $260 for nonmembers.

The museum will feature Ugandan Banana Fibre Mosaic painting at 6

to 9 p.m., Thursday. Artists Basasira David Mukasa and Lukwago Julio

Musoke will give a one-time lecture and demonstration of their art.

Cost is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers, materials are

included.

The museum’s Art and Sales Gallery will feature four local

artists, Jeffery Frisch, Francoise Issaly, Kimberly Merrill and

Cynthia Sitton in its current exhibit, debuting on Thursday’s First

Art Walk. The gallery rents and sells art ranging in style and

medium.
