A man found dead on Saturday on the beach near Pacific Coast

He had been reported missing in Long Beach on Jan. 5, police said.
The man was found by lifeguards near Lifeguard Tower 22 at 6:46

Police shoot, injure woman critically
A woman shot at police, who responded by shooting and critically
injuring her Sunday morning on Peace Street, police said.
Police responding to a disturbance of the peace were met with
gunfire when the woman began shooting at officers with a small
caliber revolver, police said.
Huntington Beach Police officers confronted the woman at 10:05
a.m. in the laundry room of a townhouse complex in the 5100 block of
Pearce Street when she started firing, said Orange County Sheriff’s
Department Spokesman Jim Amormino.
The woman fired first and for no apparent reason, Amormino said.
Officers shot at the woman, who was hit several times and
transported to a local hospital, Amormino said. She has undergone
several surgeries and is still listed in critical condition, Amormino
said.
Two Huntington Beach Police officers, a two-and-a-half-year
veteran and an 11-year veteran on the force, have been placed on
administrative leave, as is customary in any officer-involved
shooting, Amormino said.

“He tried to make them believe that he had a gun,” said Sgt. Mike

The clerk surrendered an unknown amount of money and the man fled
the store on foot, police said.
