Here are some of the items discussed at the last Huntington Beach

City Council meeting:

ANAHEIM ANGELS 5-2

The City Council passed a resolution opposing a proposed name

change for the Anaheim Angels by owner Arte Moreno. The club owner is

considering changing the name to the Los Angeles Angels to draw in a

bigger piece of the national market and ultimately make more money.

Council members Keith Bohr and Debbie Cook voted against the

proposal.

WHAT IT MEANS

The resolution is nonbinding for Moreno, but will be forwarded to

him, along with other resolutions passed by similar Orange County

municipalities to encourage him not to change the name.

MASSAGE

BUSINESSES 7-0

The council passed a resolution drafted by the Huntington Beach

Police Department dealing with the regulation of businesses that

offer massages. Police Chief Ken Small said the ordinance was a

collaboration between detectives and massage industry professionals.

WHAT IT MEANS:

The new ordinance deals with how massage permits are given out,

what type of certification is needed for different types of massage

and some facility requirements dealing with lighting, signage and

other issues. A copy of the ordinance is available at City Hall.
