Laguna high now performing ‘Door’

Laguna Beach High School will present “Stage Door” at the Artists’

Theatre, 625 Park Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Thursday, Nov. 19, 20;

and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The play is set in a post-depression boarding house for girls, who

are aspiring actresses. Tickets are $15 for reserved seats, $10 for

Firewood sale will aid water polo team

The Laguna Beach High School boys’ water polo team will have a

firewood sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

The wood is $50 per trunk or truck load (regular sized vehicles)

to be loaded by the team. Pick up is at the La Pata Green Waste site

in San Juan Capistrano.

Coffee Break to feature educator

The next Coffee Break will be 8:15 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the

Surf and Sand Hotel, 1555 S. Coast Highway. It will feature

nationally renowned parent educator Sandy Spurgeon McDaniel.

McDaniel will discuss the “Three Rs of Parenting: Raising

Responsible, Respectful and Resilient Kids.” McDaniel is known for

her practical techniques and offers on-going resources for families.

Poinsettia sale will benefit graduation

El Morro Elementary School PTA annual poinsettia sale to benefit

fifth-grade graduation is offering three poinsettias for $21 and six

for $36. Pine tree shaped rosemary topiaries are $21.

Holiday greens and fudge fundraiser set

This year’s graduating class will host a holiday sale to raise

funds to benefit the Laguna Beach High School “Safe Graduation Night

Events.”

Fresh mixed evergreen wreaths, 20 and 24 inch, and 15 foot cedar

garlands and fudge from the Chocolate Soldier in Dana Point will be

sold. Order deadline is Nov. 19, to be picked up 10 a.m. to noon Dec.

4 and 11 at the Laguna Beach Unified School District parking lot, 550

Blumont St.

SEED committee wants parents

The Laguna Beach Unified School Districts Quest for Excellence

subcommittee for social and emotional education and development seeks

teacher, parent and community member involvement.

The committee will have a parent focus and discussion group

meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 18. at True Colors Studios, 2825

Laguna Canyon Road. Monthly subcommittee meetings starting in January

High school students take top honors

Laguna Beach High School students Joy Henderson and Blakely Burns

are semifinalists for Merit Scholarships due to their preliminary

SAT/National Merit scores. A million students were tested and only

16,000 qualified as semifinalists.
