Mesa sweeps

The Costa Mesa High boys and girls cross country teams defeated

visiting Ocean View in a Golden West League dual meet Monday.

The Mesa girls swept the top seven places to record a 15-40

triumph. The Mustang boys won, 25-30.

Junior Kayla Flores remained undefeated in league, winning the

three-mile girls race in 19 minutes, 38 seconds.

Sophomore Luis Genis (second in 17:03) paced Mesa’s boys.

Jasmin Day (19:48), Emily Cotton (19:50), Jenny Sparks (20:05),

Lelani Duarte (20:05), Anna Rodriguez (21:17) and Elizabet Mendoza

(21:36) rounded out the top-seven sweep for the Mesa girls (6-0 in

league).

Mitch Friedmann (fourth in 17:37), Ryan Lacy (fifth in 17:49),

Luis Munoz (sixth in 18:03) and John Zapata (eighth in 18:18) also

scored for the Mesa boys (2-4).
