When it comes to the holidays and charitable giving, there is no

better combination of both than the Angelitos Shopping Card. This is

the third year the Angelitos de Oro, a support wing of Big Brothers

Big Sisters of Orange County, is teaming up with the good folks at

South Coast Plaza to create a shopping partnership offering discounts

to donors.

It’s a huge undertaking for the 50 ladies of Angelitos de Oro who

are busy selling the $50 card to generous citizens. The card entitles

the bearer to a 20% discount on regular purchases from Nov. 4-9 at a

host of participating South Coast Plaza stores. The $50 card purchase

is tax-deductible and benefits the charity. The co-chairs of the

program are Newport’s Bonnie McClellan and Pam Muzzy, who are working

with Angelitos president Brenda Currie. Some of the hard-working gals

who are selling tickets are Cecilia Nott, Toni Berlinger, Pam Howard

and Jayne Lally. Also contributing are Darby Manclark, Martha Fluor,

Laraine Eggleston and Susan Anderson.

To get a head start on holiday shopping, the ladies are throwing a

“Latte and lite breakfast” Nov. 4 at Nello Cucina, prior to a “shop

till you drop” day at SCP. To purchase a card, log on to

https://www.angelitosdeoro.org or call (949) 642-9883. The SCP

concierge also has cards available.

* THE CROWD appears Thursdays and Saturdays.
