Safety specialists honored tonight

Emergency-services personnel in Newport Beach will be honored

today in the seventh annual Fire & Lifeguard Appreciation Beach

Party.

To honor courage of public safety workers, the Commodores Club and

the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the event at 5:30

p.m. today at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, 1131 Back Bay Drive.

For $30, guests can enjoy a barbecue dinner and live music

performed by the Surf Tones.

While the event honors all of the men and women who serve the

city, a special ceremony will honor Dave Bowman, Firefighter of the

Year; Mitch White, Marine Safety Officer of the Year; and Ethan Poli,

Lifeguard of the Year.
