SATURDAY

The October Plantfest will be hosted by the Bolsa Chica Stewards

and the restoration team of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust. Volunteers

will work on the native plant and habitat restoration of the Bolsa

Chica Mesa at the Ecological Reserve. The groups will plant about 400

native California plants in three hours. Volunteers are needed and

should come prepared to get dirty. The work will be from 9 a.m. to

noon, parking will be available at the parking lot lat the corner of

Pacific Coast Highway and Warner Avenue. Information: (714) 717-6304.

SUNDAY

The Walk for the Animals 5K and 2K Dog Walk will be a fundraiser

for the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to

Animals. Well-mannered dogs on leashes are encouraged to attend,

puppies younger than six-months-old will not be allowed. The event

will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Central Park, 7111 Talbert Ave. The cost

for teams of five or more will $15 each if pre-registered.
