Birthplace: La Jolla
Age: 16
Favorite golf moment: Winning the Mesa Verde father-son tournament
with father Mark Les. The duo shot a 38 for nine holes in a scotch
format. In the format, players alternate tee shots and each golfer
then plays his or her own ball through the green. The best score is
counted for each hole.
Favorite club to use: Driver
Favorite course to play: Los Angeles Country Club (North course)
Favorite hobby outside of golf: Paintball
Family: Parents, Mark and Barbara; brother, Jason
Noteworthy: Les, who will be a junior at Estancia High in the
fall, shot an even-par 70 on Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club’s Mesa
Linda course June 24 to finish fifth in the boys 16-17 age division
of the Costa Mesa junior golf championships. The 70 was the lowest
score for a Newport-Mesa golfer in any division of the championship
Les, who has played golf since he was 6, earned first team All-Golden
West League status his first two years, including a third-place
finish in the league individual tournament. The family connection to
Estancia golf runs deep. Jason Les (four years) and father Mark Les
(three years) each played and earned all-league status on varsity
squads.
