Freida M. Gordon
Freida M. Gordon of Laguna Beach died April 1 after a battle with
heart disease. She was 85.
Mrs. Gordon was born in Westmoreland County, Penn. in 1918 and
lived in Laguna Beach for 43 years.
She worked at Trotters Bakery on Forest Avenue until she retired.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Laguna Beach Post
222 for 17 years, serving as Sargent of Arms for the past three
years. She served on the senior center board of directors for 20
years.
Mrs. Gordon is survived by her husband, Donald Hurlbut; her
children Fred, Jim and Marilyn; grandchildren Jim, Greg, Diana,
Alvin, Renae, Jessica, Garrett and Callie.
Family and friends will gather in her honor at 4:30 p.m. Monday at
Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 468 Legion St.
Donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Assn.
Robert H. Pyke
Robert H. Pyke died March 22. He was 77.
Born in Indiana in 1926, Mr. Pyke attended the Cincinnati
Conservatory of Music before moving to California in 1949.
Mr. Pyke served on the board of directors of the Exchange Club of
Laguna Beach. He is a retired banker and had worked as president of
the Orange County Escrow Assn. After retirement he opened Bishop’s
Antiques in Laguna Beach. He relocated the business to San Francisco
in 1995.
Mr. Pyke is survived by his life partner, Michael, and many
friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob Pyke can be made to
Coming Home Hospice at 115 Diamond St., San Francisco, CA 94114 or to
the Trinity Church Organ Restoration Fund and Music Programming at
Trinity Episcopal Church, 1668 Bush St., San Francisco, CA 94109.
A Requiem Celebration of the Holy Eucharist will be held at 11
a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in San Francisco on his birthday,
April 25.
