Heavy patrol nabs eight on holiday
Eight people had an unlucky St. Patrick’s Day when they were
arrested during what police called a saturation patrol.
Police put five additional patrol officers on the streets March 17
between 6 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. the next day. The patrol netted eight
drivers who were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence
of alcohol.
A police statement said an alcohol-related crash on Temple Hills
Drive tempered the success of the patrol.
“It’s a success because we got eight people off the streets who
could have injured themselves or someone else,” Sgt. Jason Kravetz
said. “But it’s not a success because drunk driving is still going
on.”
The police department plans future patrols and DUI checkpoints in
the coming months throughout the city.
