Speakers rail against CenterLine project
Opponents of the CenterLine light rail system rallied against the
project in Irvine Wednesday night.
The rally was an opportunity for opponents to consider their
options, said Costa Mesa resident Mike Berry. In June, 52% of Irvine
voters opposed the CenterLine route, but they didn’t reject the
concept of a light rail. Voters rejected an initiative that would
have banned the city’s participation in any light rail system.
In January, the Orange County Transportation Authority’s board of
directors approved a 9.3-mile CenterLine route that starts at the
Depot of Santa Ana and ends at John Wayne Airport with a stop at
Santa Ana College.

Soroptimists International of Newport Harbor awarded a $1,000
scholarship to Adeline Guyenne on March 17.
Because she is a member of Girls Inc., located in Costa Mesa, the
organization received half of the amount. Guyenne is a 10th-grader at
Costa Mesa High School.
She received the award at a luncheon at the Santa Ana Country
Club.
