Nicklaus to play in two pro-ams

Jack Nicklaus, winner of 18 PGA Tour major championships, informed
Toshiba Senior Classic officials that he will play in pro-am events
both Wednesday and Thursday.
The pro-ams are open to the public and feature four amateurs
paired with a Champions Tour professional. Nicklaus will tee off at
12:30 p.m. Wednesday and again at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
“From my understanding, Mr. Nicklaus does not usually play in two
pro-ams during any given tournament week,” tournament director Jeff
Purser said. “So, for our outstanding golf fans as well as the
amateurs participating in our pro-am, the chance to see possibly the
greatest player of all time an extra day is quite special.”
Nicklaus’ announcement last week that he will play in the
tournament for the first time has brought increased phone calls into
the tournament office of fans seeking tickets.
“Ticket sales have been brisk,” Purser said. “If it is good
weather, we anticipate record crowds.”
