About hypnosis

“Look into my eyes ... you are getting sleepy, sleepy, sleepy. You
are now under my power.” Yeah, right!
Growing up I heard those words during scary movie scenes where
someone was hypnotized to do some unscrupulous thing. My impression
was hypnosis was mysterious and mind controlling.
In truth, hypnosis has been around for thousands of years and was
practiced by many ancient cultures as a healing tool. Ancient
Egyptians had “sleep temples” where people renewed and regenerated
themselves. Ancient Greeks had “healing shrines”” where trance was
induced for healing and surgical procedures. Today, hypnosis is
considered a science and is practiced by people in the healing arts
and, of course, by hypnotherapists.
In 1958, hypnosis was approved by the American Medical
Association. Currently, over half of all people who seek health care
now go to alternative providers like professional hypnotherapists.
So, what is hypnosis? What can it do for you? The answers may
surprise you.
Throughout the day, everyone goes in and out of a basic hypnotic
state known as trance. Watching television, driving a car, day
dreaming, before sleep, upon waking, all move you to an inner state
of awareness. There’s no mystery, it’s just a familiar state of mind
we all experience. Like everyday trance, hypnosis has the same
feeling but with a heightened sense of self empowerment and control.
The by-product of hypnosis is relaxation of the muscles, nerves and
mind. When your body and mind relax, you feel better, you’re more
creative, and you are keenly aware of your thoughts and actions.
Hypnotic relaxation allows you to change attitudes and behaviors
in a permanent and profound way. It is my belief that everyone has
the ability to heal themselves and improve their lives by activating
their inner resources. Do you want to lose weight? Stop smoking?
Relieve stress? Rid yourself of that fear or phobia that is holding
you back? If so, your mind may have the answers for you.
Most people seeking hypnosis care are looking for fast and
permanent solutions. In weight loss alone, studies show, people who
used hypnosis lost weight quicker, stayed focused on their programs
and had a higher success rate in maintaining their weight lose. What
about smoking cessation? Kicking the physical addiction takes only
seven days. So why do some people go back to smoking? The main reason
is that mental addiction is extremely powerful. Many who have used
hypnosis to change and re-program negative actions have enjoyed
powerful and lasting results.
Getting healthy and filling your life with joy can be easier than
you think. A trained hypnotherapist is skilled in the art of deep
trance induction and acts as a guide while you explore and discover
the many dimensions of yourself. Many people are surprised by the
pleasure and joy they experience during a hypnosis session.
Unblocking fears, changing negative habits and creating a healthy
life is what hypnosis is all about.
