Tigers defeat ‘Eaters

UC Irvine senior Jon Endrikat was among three singles winners for the
Anteaters and also teamed with Corona del Mar High product Brian
Morton to claim the Anteaters’ only doubles victory. But visiting
Clemson, ranked No. 26, edged the No. 72-ranked hosts, 4-3, in a
nonconference men’s tennis match Sunday.
Endrikat defeated Nathan Thompson, 7-5, 6-2, in singles. He and
Morton, the No. 6-ranked doubles team, topped Thompson and Jermaine
Jenkins, 8-5, for UCI’s lone double win.
UCI senior Renouk Wijemanne swept, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5 singles and
UCI sophomore Peter Surapol earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 triumph at No. 6
singles.
The Anteaters return to action Sunday, when they play host to
Hawaii. The match is set for noon at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.
