All-Net team stays in first

The Newport-Mesa Breakers eighth-grade All-Net basketball team
maintained its hold on first place and moved to 4-1 in league play with a split of their two most recent games.
Newport defeated Yorba Linda, 53-44.
Robbie Boyer led Newport with 17 points and four assists while
Kyle Caldwell added nine points to go with 10 rebounds.
Joe Eberhard (eight), Ali Meshkin (six), Gus Ellis (five), Jamie
McGee (four), Jonathan Howse (two) and Brandon Boothe (two) rounded
out the scoring for the Breakers.
Capistrano Dana defeated Newport, 45-41.
McGee led Newport with 11 points while CdM resident Stefan Kaluz
paced Capo with 10 points.
In girls third- and fourth-grade National Junior Basketball
action:
* Sisters of Hoop 26, Celtics 17:
Ally Brahs led the Sisters of Hoop, who led the entire game, with
eight points while Ava Soleimany added seven.
Shannon Griffin led the Celtics with seven points, including a
three-pointer, while Maddy O’Connor tallied four points.
* Liquidators 17, Razz-Ma-Tazz 16:
The Liquidators remained undefeated with the victory.
Brooke Migliori scored four points to lead a balanced scoring
attack. Mae-Ling Choquette led the Razz-Ma-Tazz with seven points.
* Trojans 13, Gold Rush 12:
Sarah Cox led the winners with five points while Cassidy
Napolitano (six) and Nikki Borchard (five) paced scoring for the Gold
Rush.
* Raptors 25, Sparks 18:
Elissa Schilling and Amanda Parril each had seven points to lead
the Raptors to victory.
Rikki Archie had a season-high 11 points to lead the Sparks.
