CT Realty buys Mission Viejo land
At the cost of nearly $1 million per acre, CT Realty Corp. of
Newport Beach became the owner of one of the last pieces of available
land in Mission Viejo, the company announced in October.
CT Realty will use much of the 7.4-acre parcel, which it bought
for $6.75 million, to develop a $12.5-million business complex that
will contain eight office buildings.
Traditional Jewelers celebrates anniversary
More than 30 big-name jewelry designers will add some sparkle to
Traditional Jewelers at Fashion Island today when store owners Lula
and Marion Halfacre celebrate their 28th year in business and the
24th anniversary of their Newport Beach store. Designers Leopold
Poli, Scott Kay, Michael B. and Charles Krypell will launch new lines
at the event scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m.
“Newport Beach is always good for a party,” Marion Halfacre said
of the event. He expects hundreds of guests will turn out to meet the
designers and check out special jewelry such as Scott Kay’s new
sterling line.
“People will see diamonds and jewelry here that you really don’t
have an opportunity to see anywhere else,” Halfacre said.
A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go to the Marconi
Foundation, which supports children’s charities.
Newport Beach ad firm wins television awards
Public service television spots created by Newport Beach
advertising firm Lawrence & Ponder IdeaWorks won the firm five awards
at the 10th annual National Health Information Awards in October.
The award-winning ad campaigns, created for the state of
California, promoted healthy eating and exercise and showed the
detriments of drug use.
Newport ad agency opens Boston office
Newport Beach-based Johnson Gray Advertising announced Thursday
the recent opening of a branch office in Boston that will count
Boston University among its clients.
Newport attorneys take on Chevys case
Attorneys in the Newport Beach office of Irell & Manella LLP will
serve as legal counsel for a committee of creditors in the bankruptcy
cases of Chevys Inc., Rio Bravo Acquisitions Inc., Katmandu Creations
and several affiliated businesses.
The law firm announced Nov. 5 that its bankruptcy practice will
serve as counsel in the case.
