Vanguard edges foe in overtime

The Vanguard University men’s basketball team needed overtime
Saturday to defeat Montana-Western, 95-93, in the final round of the
Westminster tournament at Payne Gymnasium in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Forward Brett McGee led VU (2-1) with 20 points, six rebounds and
two assists, while the Lions dodged a 37-point effort by
Montana-Western’s Jason Buell (11 of 20 from beyond the three-point
line).
After it was tied, 80-80, in regulation, the Lions outscored
Bulldogs, 15-13, in overtime.
Brian Kim (18 points), Horace Wormely (17) and Kevin Dalafu (17)
also scored in double figures for Vanguard, which will host its
Blue-Gold intrasquad game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, then play host to
Cal State Los Angeles Nov. 15.
After trailing by nine points at halftime, the Lions rallied
against Montana-Western to force extra time.
