Ensign’s record improves to 4-0

The Ensign eighth-grade boys volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a
25-8, 25-17 victory over Costa Mesa Oct. 22.
Ensign fell behind, 6-3, but scored the next 14 points to claim
the first game. Cory Hanley had a block and kill while Erik Bonn set
up Kyle Caldwell and Dusty Campbell for kills. Mark Liebermann and
Andrew Kaban made passed well.
R.J. D’Cruz served 11 straight points, including a few aces, to
give Ensign the first-game victory.
Ensign battled back in the second set with strong serving from
Jimmy Burger and Murphy Hitchcock.
Garrett Heiser tallied several digs to save points. John Puppo
added a few saves and made a key pass to put Ensign ahead.
Will Reichenstein had several sets while Brandon Rawley tallied
several blocks and kills. Ensign has defeated Sowers, Corona del Mar
and Harbor Day.
