Little League registration dates set

Huntington Valley Little League has announced four upcoming

registration dates for its 2004 spring season.

The first signup session will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday at the league’s playing fields, located at Magnolia St.,

between Yorktown Avenue and Adams Avenue.

Future registration dates are Nov. 22, Nov. 23 and Dec. 13, each

from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The league is open to youngsters ages 5 to 16.

Surf City pair takes first-place

Two Huntington Beach surfers captured first-place in their

respective events at the Roxy Wahine Classic at San Onofre State

Beach.

Paige Ortiz, competing in the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Wahine

Division (ages 8 and under), won the division. Lanie Ortiz, also of

Huntington Beach, finished in sixth-place.

The Masters Division (ages 36 and up) was won by Kim Hamrock.

In the Senior Women Division (ages 20-35), Huntington’s Connie

Hurst placed fourth.

The Roxy Wahine Classic drew more than 300 women ranging in age 4

to 65 for the competition, giving the event its largest field of

competitors in its seven-year history.
