A stroll down Mariner’s Mile sounds good

A belated and exuberant “yes” to building a walkway along the harbor,

as suggested in a Daily Pilot article on Oct. 8.

We are always looking for water-view areas where we and our

visitors can walk and dine. Dozens of other cities in the U.S. and

Europe have waterfront promenades that attract locals and tourists

both. And the increased foot traffic would certainly enliven

Mariner’s Mile.

I read the article regarding a walkway along the harbor in

Mariner’s Mile, and I think the project would be great for Newport

Beach. I have been to San Antonio, Texas, and the River Walk there

really adds to the city. Our Mariner’s Mile is in need of attention,

and such a project would surely make the restaurant scene much more

viable.
