Liddicote nets two goals as Spiffinators double-up on Stains

Nicci Liddicote scored two goals while Katie Puccio and Kara Foster
added single tallies in the Spiffinators’ 4-2 victory over the Costa
Mesa Grass Stains in girls under-14 AYSO Region 97 soccer action
Sept. 20.
Lauren McGill, Katie Sanders, Alyssa Lee and Izamar Torres led the
defense.
In girls under-12 play:
* Breakers 5, Blue Crush 4:
The Breakers came back from a two-goal deficit to eke out the win.
Paige More led the Blue Crush with two goals and one assist. Lindsey
Anderson and Ava Nelson also scored for the Blue Crush.
* Blue Attitude 4, Beach Babes 0:
MacKenna Zorn scored twice while Emily Rosales and Kaitlin Kehoe
each had a goal in the shutout.
Midfielders Sarah Buckingham and Kathryn Zimmermann helped the
Blue Attitude control the ball.
Tabitha Goff, Sydney Clayton, Nichole Vento and Nichole Vieira
turned away Beach Babe attacks.
In boys under-12 play:
* Typhoons 6, Avalanche 2:
Zach Chocek scored once and assisted on another goal to propel the
Typhoons.
Emil Peterson, Cameron Conway and Sean Donahue each scored a goal
in the first half. Alexander Allione kept the ball in bounds and fed
to Tobin Frome, who passed to Peterson for the first goal.
Chocek fed a corner kick to Jake Manning for another goal in the
second half.
Hayden Cornwell, Brian Baca, John Klobe, Fisher Robison and Cooper
Scott all gained solid position.
* Saints 4, Blackjacks 0:
Forwards Trevor Noon, J.D. Vickers and Daniel Netzer each showed
aggressiveness while midfield support was provided by Matthew Hurst,
Kawika Morse, William Curiel and Luke Dawson.
DiFrancisco, Ryan Adams and Tyler Collins played strong defense
with Netzer and Dawson sharing time in goal.
In girls under-10 play:
* Breakers 2, Blue Crush 1:
Goalkeeper Christina Young extended her shutout streak to four
quarters during the one-goal victory.
Robin Young and Ali Hayes scored goals in the first half for the
Breakers. Meaghan Kay assisted on Young’s goal and got support from
Katie Calder and Alexandra Chandler.
The Blue Crush increased the pressure in the second half, led by
Courtney Buck, who scored the team’s lone goal.
Gretchen Monke, Brinley Siemonsma, Shannon Barth, Savanna
Gastineau and Jamie Searles all contributed to the Crush’s eight
shots on goal.
Breakers’ fullbacks Sydney Groves, Page Keys, sweeper Alyson
Delbrook, along with halfbacks Casey Duckworth and Kari Hancock,
helped seal the victory.
Blue Crush defenders Kendall Walker, Sara Cluck, Morgan Donahue,
Devin Donahue and Kyla Kerr deterred the Breakers’ offense.
* Green Anoles 2, Flames 1:
The Green Anoles gave the Flames their first loss of the season.
Katty Ayala scored the Flames’ lone goal.
Flames’ goalkeeper Dylan Alexander, with the help from fullbacks
Sydney Alexander, Sara Bradbury and Rachel Jennings, provided solid
support.
Midfielders Kelsey Long, Rachel Gray and Erika Wolf played strong
on both offense and defense while forwards Jane Layton, Chrissy
Watson and Megan Bathen moved the ball up field.
* Fighting Pickles 3, Green Goblins 2:
Kaili Brande scored two goals, one on an assist from Madison
Grant, to lead the Fighting Pickles. Grant also scored a goal.
Hunter Jennings and Alise Larsen each made saves in goal while
Delaney Bell and Sarah Zomaya played strong defense. Rachel Clayton
and Hannah Nance anchored the midfield.
* Rattlers 2, Surfer Girls 2:
The Surfer Girls jumped to a 2-0 lead on goals by Nicole Perrier
and strong defense by Emma Howard, Amber Eary, Caroline Johnson and
Jenna Castillo.
Delaney McCardle brought the Rattlers to within one goal with
Megan Farley, Sara Vetrovec and Kaitlyn Cosenza assisting.
Ricky Archie scored the tying goal on a penalty kick with one
minute to go. Kasey Thompson, Jordyn Alessi and Mary Ahearn led the
defense.
* Fireballs 2, Quicksilver 0:
Kate Batstone and Christiana Jacques each scored once for the
Fireballs with assists from Molly Anderson and Rachel Vensand.
Kristen Rohan, Elyssa Barnett and Gianna Light controlled the
midfield with Christine Dupont, Chelsea Taylor and Ailani Hause
playing strong defense.
Sofia Muscatello made four saves while Morgan Long had two stops
in goal.
In boys under-10 action:
* Red Hawks 3, Green Grenades 0:
Christopher Sheppard led the Red Hawks to their third victory of
the season with three goals.
Strikers Derek Kula and Elijah Long both had many shots on goal
with Steven Duhoux, Weston Barnes and James Jarvis leading the
midfield.
Leer Logan, William Laidlaw and Maxwell Newsome anchored the
defense.
William Joslin and William Fuchs stopped every shot in goal to
preserve the shutout.
* Silver Wolves 4, Atomic Fireballs 1:
Caleb Candelaria scored two goals in the Silver Wolves’ victory.
Robert Boullon and Clay Smyth each scored once for the Wolves, who
received strong defense from goalkeepers Jacob Swain and Jason
Wooding, along with defenders Nathan Mayhugh and Cameron Candelaria.
Efe Atli, Wyatt Muller and Boullon began the game at forward.
* Spitfires 4, Meteors 2:
Adam Kinder and Matthew Masarik scored the goals for the
Spitfires. Ryan Shannon and Masarik contributed some accurate headers
and R.J. Roberts shined defensively.
Charlie Geib made three saves in goal while Joey Lawton, Blake
Norton, Sam Peters, Erik Higbe and Tyler Schwartz also played well.
* The Blue Meteors had many strong performances in their game
Sept. 20.
Dustin Long and Grayson Berman allowed just one goal each while
making several saves behind a defense that included David Verona and
Daniel Calvillo.
Ishmael Alkayali scored twice in the first half and played well on
defense.
Calvillo helped move the ball forward to players such as
midfielder Garrett Keillor. Michael Reo controlled the ball and
Nathan Fulmizi had numerous touches and moved the ball well at
midfield.
Christopher Selby held position and had many touches with Adrian
Salas keying breakaways.
Chase Whiting also controlled the ball and had several touches.
* A.C. Milan 2, Hurricanes 0:
Ryan Cerrato and Kyle Regan each scored goals to lead A.C. Milan.
Regan scored his goal in the second half on an assist from Jesse
Torres.
Cerrato, Ian Baugh and Landon Gyulay all saw time in goal with
help from defenders Nicholas McCann, True Tamplin, Willie Pyle and
Charlie Pena.
Strong midfield play came from Christian Franco, Max Johnson and
Sam Sykes.
In girls under-8 play:
* Both the Blue Jets and Sponge Bobs exchanged goals. Emily Nall
and Sydney Kohlenberger scored for the Blue Jets with strong defense
from Alice Miller and goalkeepers Megan Daly and Molly Manser.
In boys under-8 action:
* The Green Goblins and Blue B-1 Bombers each showed strong skills
in their game Sept. 20.
Eli Batros, Buddy Mitchell and Chas Beck stopped many shots on
goal while Marc Gehlke, T.J. Tarazevits, Joey Gregory, Andrew Dimas,
Jake Farwell, Wil Crook and Cole Chapin all passed the ball well.
In girls under-7 play:
The Fire Flies came out strong against the Flowers.
Brooke Netzer and Nicole Carlin each scored one goal and Delaney
Gastineau was named the game’s “VIP” of the game.
The Flies had solid blocking and goalkeeping. They played in honor
of Erin Wilson, who broke her arm the preceding week.
* Kate Yasko scored twice for the Hula Girls against the Groovy
Girls Sept. 20.
Defenders Caroline Gels and Mallory Gyulay stopped many Groovy
Girls’ counterattacks while goalkeepers Brittany Welsh and Kierstyn
Yardley each made several saves.
Kappy Fuller, MacKenzie Gaddis and Gabby Shelley had accurate
throw-ins.
The Groovy Girls showed stellar defense and Katie Duhoux added a
breakaway goal.
Amanda Dupont, Sabrina Sanchez and Tess Alexander all saw time in
goal and had several saves.
Olivia Sever, Dani De Santis and Ali Wilson dribbled and passed
well on offense.
* Libby Knight led the Firecrackers with two goals against the
Green Flame.
Riley Alexander and Bryn Crowell added single goals for the
Firecrackers with Miranda Hart assisting on Alexander’s goal.
Sierra Page and Reagan Rutter both played well in goal with Ryan
Moncrief, Kira Wandrocke and Amanda Brown leading the defense.
* Rowan Frederiksen scored her first goal of the season and the
additions of Allison Trammell and Macie Day keyed the Surfer Girls.
Carlee Kapana, Kate Pipkin, Samantha Ludes and Abbey Pickett
passed well. The defense of Rachel Whitelegge and Kelsey Prater was
again solid.
In boys under-7 play:
* The Orange and Black Tigers took an early lead and kept the
pressure on the Green Goblins for most of the game
Landon Knight scored three goals and Jack Binford added two for
the Tigers.
Baron Davis centered a pass to Binford for one goal and William
Johnson, along with Davis, played well both offensively and
defensively.
Ryan Braun shined for the Tigers in goal with Thomas Quinn, David
Hartman and Griffith Clawson stabilizing the defense.
* Elliott Frye, Will Hickman, Erick Pineda and John Drayton keyed
the Blue Flames’ defense against the Super Team Kids. Jimmy Preston
kept the action going with a shot on goal.
Peter Goodman had a breakaway and James Porter aided the offense.
Grant Fuchs and Jack Heald made valuable contributions.
* The Red Fireballs and Fireballs played one another and each
showed strong ball handling with solid kicks and headers.
In girls under-6 action:
* Audrey Reed scored four goals, one on an assist from Haley
Martinez, to lead the Blue Dolphins.
Kelly McFetters scored twice on assists from Carly Van Oostendorp
and Shea Horvath.
* Samantha Falasco and Lindzy Konrad were the leading goal scorers
for the Dolphins against the Pink Butterflies.
Brittany Woolsey scored her first goal of the year with Jordan
Scott, Sonja Spencer, London Davis and Mackenzie Mowery adding solid
defense.
* The Fireflies fought hard against the Cheetah Girls.
Erika Ellis and Charlotte Monke cut off Cheetah attacks and
Heather Roberts booted a goal kick.
Emily Goltz and Laura Mackenzie dribbled down field with Candace
Callahan and Quincy Morgan making some throw-ins.
In boys under-6 play:
* The Green Giants were led by Cole Kinder, Matthew LeGrandeur,
Charlie Muller and Trent Burgess, who all scored goals against the
Green Hornets.
Team captain Carlton Chang, along with Christian Coufos and Jack
Blake, keyed the defense.
* The Sharks came alive in the second half with offensive attacks
by Shane Mitchell, Corbin Joyce, Ryan Young and Dillon Murphy.
Jacob Duerhing led the defense in his first game with help from
Kyle Moran and Hunter Ficenec.
* Collin Pipkin scored his first goal of the season with Baer
Lanfried adding another goal for the Silver Sharks against the
Flaming Yellow Barracudas.
Alex Michelson narrowly missed the goal with two shots and Hunter
Holden added a key run
Charlie Wiggs, Alex Escalera and Chase Adelsohn all made saves on
Barracuda breakaways.
* Jack McClintock led the Blue Sharks with two goals against the
Green Fire while Cade Clement added another score.
R.J. Reid showed strong ball-handling skills and Kevon Andonian
blocked a ball to save a goal. .
Mason Lindh, Spike Stoneman and Jake Van Herwaarden also played
tough for the Sharks.
* The Blue Dolphins 2, Dragons 2:
Mathew Peterson, Phoenix Smith and Ethan Buggeln showed strong
defense with Mathew Brodie scoring the first goal and Chase Braun
adding the second.
Cooper Hendrix and Sam Launder showed their skills.
