Mesa Verde Partners, Sports World collide

Defending Wednesday League champion Mesa Verde Partners and runner-up
Sports World rode outstanding pitching performances to advance to the
second round of the postseason playoffs in city of Laguna Beach
Community Services Department’s Summer 16 softball action.
The victory sets up a showdown between the league’s top two teams,
who will meet for the fourth time this season.
Mesa Verde Partners holds a 3-0 advantage in games won this
summer.
Mesa Verde Partners 7, Sammy’s Burgers 0
Phil McManus pitched a three-hitter to lead Mesa Verde Partners.
Offensively, Danny Lane powered his way for two home runs and a
single to account for four RBIs. Jeff Pich was equally as hot from
the plate with two home runs, a walk and three RBIs while Jeff
Greenough homered and singled.
Gary Marcus singled twice to account for two of Sammy’s Burgers
three-hit total.
Sports World 6, Courtesy Auto Body 0
Randy Buck tossed a three-hitter at Courtesy Auto Body and yielded
just three singles.
Buck also contributed offensively with an RBI single.
Sports World scored twice in the first inning then got an RBI home
run from Bill Toon in the third inning and a three-RBI home run from
Teo Moore in the sixth.

Jeff Tankersley notched the pitching win as Sammy’s Burgers
eliminated Courtesy Auto Body from postseason title contention.
John Verdugo homered for Courtesy Auto Body.
