School district honors employees

The Newport-Mesa Unified School District gave out its annual

P.R.I.D.E. of the Year awards Tuesday night to recognize district

employees.

Michelle Lindfors, Costa Mesa High School teacher; Barbara

Harrington, past principal of Kaiser Elementary; Patsy Metcall, adult

education registrar; Barry Macpherson, Rea Elementary counselor; and

Darin Petzold, director of Maintenance and Operations, all took home

honors.

The awards started in 2002 as a way to acknowledge employees’

efforts in customer service to students, members of the community and

fellow employees. P.R.I.D.E. stands for Proudly Recognizing

Individuals Demonstrating Excellence.

Mesa Consolidated names new manager

Victoria Beatley is the new financial services manager for the

Mesa Consolidated Water District. She will manage the district’s

accounting, financial reporting, budget, payroll and purchasing

functions.

Beatley has more than 19 years of financial experience in the

public and private sectors. She joins the district from the city of

Orange, where she served as investment and revenue officer and deputy

city treasurer.

Mexican and Japanese landscapes at library

“Paintings of Mexico and Japan,” an exhibit of artworks by

professor Howard Hitchcock, is on display in the foyer of the Newport

Beach’s Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. The exhibit runs through
