Mustangs capture first victory

Sophomore Kyle Thorsness scored five goals to lead the Costa Mesa
High boys water polo team to its first win of the season, a 9-8
nonleague victory over visiting Fountain Valley Thursday.
Fountain Valley cut the deficit to 8-7 in the fourth period, but
Thorsness scored on an assist from senior Brian Tipton to secure the
win.
Tipton scored twice for the Mustangs (1-2), while junior Anthony
Adamowicz and Luke Yellin added one goal each.
Junior goalie Matt Jaroslawski recorded six saves and senior Brian
Knox had three.
This is the final season for Mustangs Coach Bob Shupp, who is
retiring.
